JPMorgan Chase Donates $250,000 To Hurricane Isaac Relief Efforts

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) today announced it will donate $250,000 to support relief efforts after Hurricane Isaac - $200,000 to the American Red Cross for areas affected by the hurricane and $50,000 to the Greater New Orleans Foundation's Hurricane Isaac Relief Fund.

"We are partnering with key community groups to help our neighbors who face challenges after Isaac," said John Kallenborn, president of Chase in Louisiana.

Chase also helped customers before the hurricane. The bank kept 18 branches open late along evacuation routes in Louisiana and east Texas. And it quickly reopened branches, getting virtually all of them up and running by August 31, frequently bringing in generators in the absence of electricity. The bank also opened 21 key branches across Louisiana on Labor Day.

"Helping customers on Labor Day was another way our employees went the extra mile for our customers," said Pam Evans, manager of the 156 Chase branches in Louisiana.

On the holiday, employees provided banking services and distributed essentials such as bottled water, flashlights, and battery-operated weather radios and fans. They also served hamburgers and hot dogs to 14,000 customers and welcomed them into the branches to cool off and charge their cell phones, which was well-received in areas without electricity.

Chase also waived ATM, overdraft and late fees through the Labor Day weekend for Louisiana and Mississippi customers.
