Empyrean Energy PLC23 August 2006 Empyrean Energy PLC ("Empyrean" or the "Company"; Ticker: (EME)) Sugarloaf Hosston Prospect, Texas USA ------------------------------------- AIM quoted Empyrean Energy PLC today announces that at 6am Texas time on 22August, 2006 the Sugarloaf-1 exploration well, located in the onshore Gulf CoastBasin in Texas, USA, was drilling ahead in 17-1/2" hole at 3,289 feet (1,003metres). Since the last report advising the spud of the well, 18-5/8" casing wassuccessfully set at 910 feet (277 metres). The Sugarloaf well has a number of geologically independent targets, the firstof which is at 12,000 - 14,000 feet (3,600 - 4,300 metres) and is expected to bereached by mid September. The primary Hosston target is expected to be reached in early to mid October andthe total depth of 21,000 feet (6,400 metres) in early November.
