Change to basis of ASX quotation of GPG shares
Guinness Peat Group plc (ASX: GPG) announces that it has obtained waivers from certain ASX Listing Rules, the effect of which is that GPG will no longer apply for quotation of all of its issued shares on ASX. Instead, GPG will apply for ASX quotation of only those shares which are represented by CDIs (CHESS Depository Instruments). At present, approximately 16% of GPG's issued shares are represented by CDIs.
As a condition of the waiver, GPG will update the market on a monthly basis as to any net movement in the number of CDIs on issue.
GPG believes that ASX quotation of its CDIs (as distinct from the total number of shares on issue) more accurately reflects the GPG securities which are immediately tradable on the ASX market, and therefore provides a more transparent representation of liquidity for ASX purposes.
