Capita forms strategic partnership with BAE

22 May 2014 Capita forms strategic partnership with BAE Systems Maritime - Submarines Capita plc today announces that it has signed a contract with BAE SystemsMaritime - Submarines. Capita will become its strategic partner to transformthe existing method of IT service delivery for its submarine building businessin Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The contract is expected to be worth between £60m and £70m over the next five years to Capita. BAE Systems Maritime - Submarines is currently designing and building theAstute class of nuclear powered attack submarines for the UK Royal Navy. It isalso leading on the design of a replacement for the Vanguard class submarines. Capita IT Services will deliver an enhanced IT service model across thesubmarine building business which will be aligned with the wider BAE Systemsgroup IT framework. The new service model will result in reduced service charges and higher levelsof IT service management performance through using specialist teams focussed inparticular fields, such as end user computing, collaborative services andapplications management. This new contract builds on the work that Capita IT Services has provided tothe business over the past eight years, including the implementation ofservers, wide area networks and local area networks. Capita has also providedtechnical consultancy and application development, while managing a dedicatedon site service desk with the flexibility to oversee a range of IT issues.
