New Appointments to the TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC Board
Sir Howard Stringer and James Powell will join the TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC Board as Non-Executive Directors with immediate effect.Roger Taylor, who has served on the Board since TalkTalk's demerger from Carphone Warehouse has decided to step down. Now that the company has established itself as a successful stand-alone entity and with the appointment of two new very high calibre Non-Executive Directors in addition to the other NEDs already serving on the Board, Roger felt now was the right time to step down. The Board would like to thank Roger for his tremendous contribution to the growth and development of TalkTalk since its inception as a division of Carphone Warehouse. These Board changes now mean TalkTalk has at least 5 independent Non-Executive Directors and they account for more than half of the Board excluding the Chairman. Chairman of TalkTalk, Sir Charles Dunstone said: "We are pleased to welcome Sir Howard and James to our Board of Directors. Collectively they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the group from the entertainment and technology sectors which will be invaluable as we launch TV in the coming months. It goes without saying that Roger's contribution to the company has been immense right from the very beginning. There simply wouldn't be a TalkTalk without the role he played. I would like to offer my personal thanks to him for his amazing contribution. He will however remain a close adviser both to the company and myself as Chairman". Commenting on his appointment Sir Howard Stringer said: "I am delighted to be joining the Board of such an entrepreneurial and innovative company just as the business launches a hugely exciting TV service". Sir Howard is currently Chairman of Sony Corporation. James Powell said: "I am delighted to be joining the TalkTalk Board in this exciting phase of the company's development".
