agree
it also answers some of their problems re public sector strikes as takes away some of the reason that those workers need a payrise ie rising energy costs
Tories were the same through covid. Always slow or too late to make the move that was needed and would have garnered support for them
I can’t see why Jeremy Hunt doesn’t roll the price cap over for three more months at £2,500
That take a huge (already priced in) jump in energy inflation away. It looks great in the polls and it also means input costs lower which in turn allows further falls in pricing
It’s a move he needs to make
@ryan Asos and boohoo do have automation in their warehouses! Asos was probably 3-5 years a head of THG on that front
The difference is Asos uses a shuttle system
Boohoo has only just automated but again gone for a shuttle system
Autostore does have flaws that’s why it’s not used in every case of automation
and another Heinz site!

This adds to ketchup one I shared at Christmas
Good momentum here with Heinz
Canary they haven’t “picked” THG for this as Autostore say the deal for the pick offering isn’t exclusive. It just done with THG first but will be available to all partners, who in turn all have a WMS
The MFC is an Autostore design as one of the main draw backs from investors to Autostore was the rise of Uber east, gorilla and gett etc. ie saying does fast but out of city large fulfilment become obsolete when the above businesses can deliver from stores or empty units in under and hour
So to combats this Autostore designed MFCs
It’s significant as it shows how many people here haven’t got a scooby
Would be buying through the market
Can’t do a placing as we’d go mad. Private, why there is liquidity to buy more shares in the market
Rumour - Kelso will be buying more stock in next few weeks
JGala
All of what you said exists with FIR/ST and tbh it’s not even first it’s just the basics of D2C. It’s shocking how 11 “likes” have not noticed that
DG, that’s wrong also. Ingenuity was always about both. The USP was that THG would make ZERO profit on the fulfilment element. That was the plan
So it seems no one knows what is great about this vs FIR/ST yet we all think it’s huge. Seems odd
I haven’t “missed the bottom” I sold half which 2phevs bought and then got a fair few free ones after results. All in all quite happy
But can someone tell me what is different to FIR/ST not just a generic answer on why brands should sell D2C
Apart from the way you pay for this system can someone tell me what is different to FIR/ST?
Everyone saying this is game changing and “liking” all the comments so if someone can tell me I’d really appreciate it
Also if we help retailers install this system and sell the WMS how does that help us fill our empty warehouses?
Genuine question as I really can’t work it out
Autostore is a great system but thats all it is. A system to retrieve packages and it has some benefits and also some flaws. Shuttle systems are the same. Some benefit and flaws and then you have the amazon robots which carry pallets
The Autostore system works well for small items but it doesn’t work for anything bigger than the boxes
Investing 101 and pearls going for the idiot off today it seems
Autostores IPO happened and the shares are down c.50% from IPO
Wincanton have lorries but they do the same for the fulfilment element (they won Neals Yard from THG, they do revolution beauty for the UK and they just signed Huda Beauty - a huge beauty brand). But then they do the very ugly lorry bit
This annoucement from Matt seems great but again
1) it's not exlcusive
2) a WMS into the autostore system isn't unique (autostore sell one and so does each of autostores partners)
3) apart from the economics (which I agree are a lot better now) this is just FIR/ST which is 18 months old
4) this doesn't help THG! We have GMV capacity for £14 BILLION. Now we are going to help other set up a warehouse and get their own autostore and we take a tiny tiny cut from an element of software rather than the items go through our warehouse where we get a bigger piece of the pie
So again this deal changes nothing in my view. Ingenuity as it is today is for the bin. Not the whole thing but the downsizing of the warehouses. We clearly aren't filling that £14 BILLION of empty space but we are paying through the nose for it. Just selling software is far better
Oke you’re confusing the point. It’s a GMV margin. GMV is not their revenue
Their “margin” when you use that phrase is(“EBITDA margin”) EBITDA / revenue or gross profit/ revenue
And another for “millions being pumped in” to prove its not a flop
- why is it that THG has slashed all growth capex for Ingenuity? If it’s not a flop why aren’t they continuing to fund its future? 12 months ago we had a capex budget set up to this
Dg I never referred to your question mark part as you statement after made it clear what you were meaning.
On the point of financier putting in billions. When was it they did this? You see you’ve done is picked data from different points in time to establish your point
So when did these billions go in?
How can we say ingenuity is a flop? Ok want to answer these?
- what was ingenuity commerce revenue supposed to be at this point?
- where did the 400 CONTRACTED sites vanish to?
- why have there been so many clients who have left when these are supposed to be multi-year contracts?
- why has revenue not grown in the last 12 months when all competitors grew?
- why did SoftBank (who did DD and had a seat on the board) not invest their billions (given your source of investment confidence is just “people put in billions”)
I’ll bet now of the “like” brigade could answer the above
But what’s interesting when you read the Autostore statement on today. They are selling their “pay per pick” service to all partners so it’s not even exclusive. It’s just a new pricing model for FIR/ST
Yes it's great news that Autostore now say partner. I never said it wasn't!
But for the 6 "likes" that think they are all excited about me being wrong watch this
https://www.autostoresystem.com/investors/capital-markets-day-2022#about-us
2 hours and 30mins is the question asked on THG and you'll see the answer
DG i meant you had yur tail between your legs as you were ramping Ingenuity the other week poeple ask you a few questions and you didn't have a clue or any basis
You've even misunderstood this to be a whale
"The first line of my thread - all I read on here is sack of ingenuity, it’s point less, dead in the water. I think this proves it’s not the case that’s all" - where? I didn't do this. As I said you started the thread with a mock that ""Stick that up your ingenuity is a flop pipe" so you clearly wanted to try and have a go at people who had said nasty things about ingenuity
@Hosai, I say both as depends who's side you see. THG ALWAYS called autostore a partner. AutoStore until today ALWAYS called THG a customer (it's in their IPO admission document and it was asked to their CEO at an autostore capital amrkets event)
So as I have said until today it's been customer. FIR/ST was a THG thing to shout about. Autostore never sold it or cared for it. They have their own WMS to sell
DG you're similar to 2phevs. Look at your first post in this thread
"Stick that up your ingenuity is a flop pipe"
You have clearly gone out to mock people as you got your tail put between your legs over the last few weeks. You've the cheek to tell me to get over myself when you're the one making posts to state "I was right you were wrong"
But again as you've been made to look silly again you've forgotten your first comment
The nice robots flying round a THG warehouse pick beauty items. In the same way that autostores robots pick Pumas goods
This is potentially a nice deal IF autstore push clients to THG but if they don't it's nothing. You do know how many Ingenuity sites have autostore?
