Andrada Mining acquisition elevates the miner to emerging mid-tier status. Watch the video here.
Made me sell up Shell to top up before it is too late. Don't tell my wife.
Excellent news, 3 trains this month, great prospects for the rest of the year or ten. "Do the sums" he says. But that is too frightening.
And I missed it all, playing bridge. Down to 60, up to 80, and I didn't know. Getting serious when I chap can't even have a half day off :(
Yes there is a degree of hopium, but I can live with profit taking by traders. I have not sold any, but am more of a "come back and look at it next year" investor. I bought thinking it was a good prospect, and still do. If I am wrong, my pension years will be leaner, but I think not.
According to the RNS the dividend (final+special) is £128.344 per share.
I have received a payment of exactly that. Therefore I deduce there is no withholding tax, and I would not expect any as this is a GB company.
Good luck, but latest from AJB is that while all they need to do is confirm the number of shares claimable, they have no accounting ability to do that as they cannot be sure that all clients are eligible. For USA and Canada they can do this because individuals fill out forms (eg W8BEN) so the system can total them. Presumably too much effort to manually add the holdings of those people like me have raised the issue, but I can hope !
I appreciate the explanations, but it doesn't give me the confidence that I want to put my money back in. I have had AV. for 7 years and while it has trundled on and maybe returned a little value over that time, I would rather better returns elsewhere, accepting some risk rather than falling asleep at the wheel here. I will not return.
No thanks. I mean, I'd love to, as I'm getting worried, suffering from vertigo, but where else looks as good?
Topped up again this morning, seems strange to be doing it at these prices. Exited Aviva, don't like their shenanigans, and put yet another egg in the same Ben basket.
Update on situation with AJBell
Having raised this with our tax management team, I can confirm that unfortunately we do not offer a withholding tax reclaim service. As your shares are held under AJ Bell's name the ability to individually reclaim the tax is not possible. To proceed we would have to open a
separate designation for yourself then enter negotiations with the South African tax authority and reclaim the sum that way. As we are a low cost broker the service mentioned above would be extremely costly and ultimately the fee would have to be passed on and reflected
in us raising our charges across the board (Dealing/Custody/Foreign Exchange.)
We do have negotiated treaties with the US and Canadian authorities as our platform users trade in these markets heavily. Unfortunately, the demand for South African stocks does not parallel with the increase in charges this service would cause.
In order for you to receive a Treaty rate we would require our account structure to be changed which is not something we believe would benefit the majority of our customers at this time, however we are looking to improve this service in the future.
Does not a market maker sell and buy? Presumably he does so in the expectation of making money, so I see that as similar to your punter making money by selling when he thinks the price is too high. Perhaps MM trades should have their own category other than buy/sell, or have a code other than "O".
Pinch of salt on buy/sell assumption. One of my buys in the past was clearly reported as a sell. But if someone is buying, someone is selling, by definition.
It looks a great future, there are expansion plans, and my guess is that underground mining will need much in the way of expensive equipment and manpower. But so did Sirius Minerals have a great future, and when more funding was needed the company sold out to Anglo American who gave me £ 1,300 for my shares worth £ 11,000 before. My vote (and the other PIs') was of course overwhelmed by the people running the company.
While I am not saying the same thing will happen here, caution is needed. SSX was a bigger company, too, about 10 times the current value of BEN I believe.
I sold all my shares at year end (at 301) because of disappointing performance, and while the price now is a bargain (if the company and Ukraine survive) I see no reason to come back when other shares maybe had at better performance and less risk.
