Not sure if allowed,
but heres a small extract from article,
IMO’s Fourth Study into Greenhouse Gases published in August, showed the scale of the challenge for shipping’s contribution to greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).
At a time when urgent action on climate change is needed, emissions from shipping have increased.
Carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide emissions – including international and domestic shipping and fishing – are up by 9.6% from 977 million tonnes in 2012 to 1.076 billion tonnes in 2018.
Particularly striking were increases in short-lived climate super-pollutants. Black carbon has risen by 12%, and there is a 150% increase in methane emissions, likely due to a surge in the number of ships fuelled by LNG (liquefied natural gas) and methane slip – small amounts of unburnt methane that have escaped the combustion process.
END:
We already know that MSAR can reduce black soot and Nox substantially
Hi Dustofnations.
Reading through the link based upon a lead time of 15-17 months would I be correct in assuming that no revenue to QFI from the 5K bopd would be forthcoming before Q3 of 2022.
p.s. noticed from an article I received in a marine publication (sorry no link) that LNG causing enviromental issues due to methane emissions
Hi Noosking
Retirement better than all those long flights I had to take.
But I do miss the camaraderie, the odd run ashore and just the feeling of achievement.
Looking back over the 43 years at sea, I wouldn't change a thing....mistakes and all.
Take good care in these strange unprecedented times.
BP
get well soon, you need to get back behind the wheel of that Porsche ASAP.
I was diaognosed with pvd in the left eye, this year (flashes) now got mild floaters in the right eye.
So keeping an eye (excuse the pUn) on it.
You'll need good vision to count the ££££££s when QFI finally sign multiple contracts
Best wishes from DPE
24 hrs as a QFI LTH22
Wodewick
Loved that post put a smile on my face.
I'm still around and too remember the heady days of Brian Smith 10,000 or was it 100,000.
Good to see some of the regulars still post occasionally, notably BP still polishing his Ball (BP I sold the Porsche and now driving a Merc SL63 AMG).
I am still eternally hopefully the BB will pull a rabbit out of the hat.
Miss the days that we all had high hopes on the Marine front and I really had believed that the owners of Cepsa would have jumped in and funded QFI to the hilt.
Ahhhhh remember the days when we spoke of refineries in North West Europe then roll out for ROW ( for the newbies thats Rest of the World)
PEMEX was high on the agenda back in the day.
I suppose at these rock bottom prices newbies can easily expect to turn over nice profits.
I'm hanging in because the numbers I'm dealing with would make a few eyes water.....even crystal balls might shatter.
Well BP at that price aid better go and fill up the SL63 AMG, cos it only does 14 mpg....hammered
??
HH
Exactly, makes you wonder.
Possibly the difference is if it offers any reasoning is that fundamentally LSHFO is still a known baseline hydrocarbon fuel, whereas MSAR is classed as a synthetic fuel oil, even though it is mainly an HFO derivative.
Also similarly those companies (cruise lines) whom have adopted to go with "clip on" emulsion equipment to my knowledge do not have LONO's.
From 1st hand experience which I posted a few years back on the forum I worked on the same diesel electric vessel for 5 years with 6 x 9 cylinder Wartsila medium speed engines.
At their 20K first overhauls which we carried out at 16K running hours we had to change the engine jerk type injection pumps elements due to premature wear (scoring & cavitation), these should of lasted 40 K running hours.
Fuel in use was ultra low MGO...........the link is Low Sulphur fuel!
Peace & Goodwill to one and all, the world really needs it.
Good to see Sam, Noosking and BP posting.
Going to be an interesting New Year as the new IMO regs come into play.
I personally dont expect QFI to be in a position to capitalise on the marine front but here's hoping that the land based trials can start up very early in Q1, and who knows Maersk may return to the table?
Merry Xmas
50p'sssssss will do nicely BP
After the last RNS I thought some progress towards fund raising if it were to be a share placing would be imminent given the timescale required relative to early October.
Or could it be the BB are in negotiations with a "cash" backer in exchange for a percentage of the company, someone who would see them through say 2 years.
Personally I would prefer the later, especially if it were an industry related backer with some real clout.
Bit sad really on this board over the last couple of days, so much bitching and in fighting.
For God's sake, at last there is a small ray of sunshine, grab it and be happy, we've had so much bad luck over the years (Buoygate) + (Unpaid electricity bills).
For the LTH's perhaps champagne on ice, but leave the cork firmly in.
For newbies, welcome, you could possibly do worse.
A point I picked up a couple of Conference calls ago, reference Maersk, when a question was raised regarding if they are still in the frame, and the reply was, yes, but only in terms of future agreements would be on commercial terms (not word for word).
Cheers, I'm on rum and coke, chink, chink.
Hello Sammy
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your mum.
I'm just off to the cemetery to lay a poppy wreath on my Dads grave a veteran and survivor of D-Day. He landed at 06.30 on Sword beach.
I hope your mums bequeath of her QFI shares will afford you and the " Old Man" many many lovely holidays in her rememberance
Morning Noosking
The wife is now 9 months post transplant and much better results.
Surely at least one contract must be forthcoming with so many options out there.
Didn't hear the interview with MK, will have to have a listen.
Once QFI have that 1st contract in the bag, I believe other doors will open and who knows the Maersk and KSA doors may be closed but not locked.
Best wishes to all.
I dont post much these days (hardly at all) but have to agree strongly with Prep.
QFI are in a much better position than they have been for several years with far more eggs in baskets.
Somehow I liked the China river possibilities for marine MSAR2 and never had realised the huge volumes of HFO consumed.
As mentioned we are just one RNS away from the possibilities we have all dreamed of.
p.s. pre 2012 holder
Morning Noosking / BP
Yes time to get the covers off the crystal ball and get it polished.
Time to see some wet ink on contracts as a month has passed already, hope it's not going to be another nail biting waiting game
Morning Noosking
Hope you are well.
I am somewhat Supprised that given Jan 1st Sulphur deadline is looming ever closer that a marine rabbit hasn't been pulled out of the hat yet, by that I mean a company already committed to scrubbers haven't raised their head yet.
I still don't quite understand that once the OO shares are addmitted into the market that surely the SP will drop somewhat?
Perhaps someone could explain?
Noticed that Barclays say that OO not valid in ISA
Hi All Wishing you all all the very best for the New Year and hoping you all had a great Xmas. Our Xmas was cancelled at the very last minute as my family couldn't come round due to my young grandson contracting chickenpox. My wife had a liver transplant in August due to Hep B virus back in August so her immune system is suppressed.. Off to Newcastle Freemans hospital today for Blood tests. Mustn't complain though there are so many worse off than us sleeping rough on the streets so spare a thought for others. I disappeared for a while after the KSA demise as I was really gutted.. Sounds as though we have more baskets than before , however I am not over confident now that marine will take off primarily because of the infrastructures required to be in place, and more time now needed to get shipping companies on board. At least we seem to have companies on board with financing background.. Here's hoping to a better 2019
Also one of the factors that lends itself to using MSAR2 is the utilisation of "slow steaming" this can reduce fuel consumptions from (as an example) 265 tons/ day down to 165 tons / day, So on a like for like voyage there is no need to bunker more MSAR than you would of HFO for the same conditions of service.
This was a major consideration of Maersk in the early days of the trials.
Still here Sam / Noosking In the background, not much to add these days since the KSA demise. Still hoping they can turn it around
