Listen to our latest Investing Matters Podcast episode 'Uncovering opportunities with investment trusts' with The AIC's Richard Stone here.
If it was then you'd know that Sol-1 was old news.
Indeed. I came in at 37p Anyone higher?
Fevertreeman:
Agree entirely, but whatever our opinion of personalities or management styles we're here hanging on to the shirttails hoping that our wealth increases too.
This is what we've been waiting for and we can argue as much as we like that the earth is flat or things could/should have been done differently, but to no avail.
I learn a on lot here from people with more business/industrial knowledge than I, including yourself, and check in here most days to read some valued contributions and filter out some others.
Good luck to all.
More rain.
I've had a couple of filtered messages show up on this board. From all the reaction I now know the source. Suggest everyone does the same.
Another week nearer the end.
A good weekend to all.
As would I but it wouldn't happen.
I fear the AMER goose, that should by now have been laying golden eggs, has been well and truly cooked as long as this bod remain in any way connected.
What the AMER goose does have is a nest full of eggs that glisten to some extent but without the necessary polish for a meaningful glow that could have been achieved in the, I forget how many, years that I've been 'invested' here.
I would like to see the 37.5p that Stifel had as a forecast value achieved (at least) as that was the, near exact, price I paid for my initial stake and twice my current average . I'm still under water after all this time but I held on, as many other lth's, knowing that this time would come and the company sold on to a serious oil company believing that the only redeeming feature this bod has is its ability to close a good selling deal.
Well, here's hoping.
A good weekend to all: another week nearer to the end.
Typical of GC companies to lump together two or more separate bits of information that should really be the subject of their own RNS.
Anyone believe they'll start producing or is it just a ploy to indicate that they don't actually need to sell the company?
If it is a ploy then it indicates to potential buyers that they need to dig deeper into their pockets: which is to be welcomed.
Whichever outcome transpires IRON currently sits on a world class resource.
Fortitude, I'm tending towards your view here too. All this Larry bashing will, in time, turn out to be founded or unfounded but I look across the boardroom table from LJ towards the chairman, GC. It is his tarnishing influence that is jumping out at me here, given that two of his other companies AMER and IRON are guided in exactly the same style and the long term shareholders of both are suffering as a result. Without good news we will continue to suffer.
I believe this to be a world class resource that will eventually deliver returns on our investments when the mine achieves full jorc status: when it will probably be sold on. This being the same outline scenario with both AMER and IRON.
A top up to average down for me today.
For what it's worth I'll put some back into AYM, a FTSE listed miner. Had some in previously but sold due to daughter's wedding.
Question: with AMER being sold what is the position with legacy barrels? If AMER is no longer in being as a company to collect the legacy would this be a factor considered during the sale process with an added premium factored in to the eventual price.
In an attempt to further soothe minds for the weekend I'll share a view which comes to me when AMER's positives are listed by those of you more knowledgeable than myself.
South America and the oil industry are both known to have very macho cultures so as things stand now I think of AMER as the beautiful woman sunbathing on the beach in the late afternoon surrounded by several keen would be suitors. She'll be watching them all and considering their advances and attributes. But then, along comes 'the one' and off she sails into the sunset. :-)
p2 and S1978,
Google - 'Middelburg smelter'. The first image on the results page is of molten iron ore being poured at the smelter. From that image there is a link a proinvestor article from 2017 that explains the acquisition deal. (I couldn't hyperlink it)
Wolster, that's why I filtered him and a couple of others months ago. Not worth wasting any time on him.
Pp, going on past form, all news will be bundled together into one RNS, lessening the impact of each.
GA, I'm in Ironveld and also GC's other company Kazera Global (KZG) an investment company with 75% ownership of a Tantalum mine in Namibia. All three companies are very economical with operational updates and their SP has suffered accordingly but between them, I believe, they offer a great chance of a high reward, especially at current levels.
People, today's posts on this bb have been unworthy of comment until now. I hope that tomorrow there will be no more sniping, derogatory, condescending or personal remarks about intelligence or fortune. In my old job this kind of petty spat would be under the heading, and apologies to the ladies, 'f***ing women'. So handbags down girlies and let's have an orderly board.
