Spire Healthcare opens new £65m hospital in Manchester

(ShareCast News) - FTSE 250 private hospital group Spire Healthcare has opened a new, £65m hospital in Didsbury, South Manchester, replacing the previous hospital in Whalley Range, and offering a wide range of integrated surgical, medical and diagnostic services.Designed with extensive input from consultants, staff and patients, this facility comprises six operating theatres, 76 patient beds (inpatient and day-case) and 23 outpatient consulting and treatment rooms.It will offer complex surgery and medicine through a large and fully functioning Intensive Therapy Critical Care Unit, including five Level 3 Critical Care beds, together with diagnostic and imaging equipment from Siemens. Other new services include hydrotherapy, a hybrid theatre and a 120-seat education centre.Chris Chadwick, Spire Manchester hospital director, said: "This new hospital is in a prime location and will provide local and wider Manchester communities with excellent access to a comprehensive range of medical services and up-to-date facilities."We are delighted to have made this investment in better patient services, better patient accommodation and better technology enabling us to deliver the highest quality care and clinical outcomes for all our patients at Spire Manchester Hospital."
