PRESS: Glaxo Closes Plant Amid Legionnaire's Disease Fears - NYT

Wed, 12th Aug 2015 08:39

LONDON (Alliance News) - GlaxoSmithKline PLC has shut down a North Carolina plant which produces inhaled medications after it discovered the bacteria which causes Legionnaire's disease at the site, The New York Times reported.

The manufacturing plant in Zebulon was closed on Tuesday after the bacteria was found in cooling towers, the newspaper said. Legionnaire's disease is a deadly form of pneumonia and got its name after an epidemic break-out in 1976 at a Legionnaires' convention held in Philadelphia.
