LONDON (Alliance News) - Erris Resources PLC on Wednesday posted final results from its surface diamond drilling programme at the Abbeytown project in Ireland, saying made a number of high-grade intersections of base and precious metals.
Shares in the European-focused mineral exploration company were up 5.3% at 6.84 pence on Wednesday.
The polymetallic mine - which targets zinc, lead, silver, and copper - found 16% zinc and lead combined and 90.68 grams per ton of ore of gold over 4.1 metres at hole ERAB005 .
Other highlights of the drilling programme included 16% zinc and lead combined, 1.9% copper, and 51.50 grams of gold per tone of ore over 2 metres at hole ERAB007.
A copper-rich intersection also was located at hole ERAB010, with 5 metres grading 4.7% zinc and lead combines, 1.1% copper, and 29.3 grams of gold per ton of ore.
Mineralisation was defined over 250 metres, open to the historic mine workings to the north and open to the south away from the new mineralisation area.
Erris said that new zinc soil anomalies found at Abbeytown, defining parallel trends for further targeting, potentially expanded the target zone of the project.
"Recent holes have extended the strike of mineralisation under investigation as part of this programme, with some very high-grade intersections of zinc, lead, silver and copper," said Erris Chief Operating Officer Aiden Lavelle.
"It is now planned to test the gap between the underground mine and this recent surface drilling by focused drilling from two underground drill pads to give maximum information on continuity and grade," Lavelle added.
