Friday preview: Shire, WPP

Up-and-coming drug group Shire may have a little more excitement to offer than its bigger peers who have already reported this week. Credit Suisse is looking for strong sales of the hyperactivity treatment Vyvanse and an update on the US regulatory filing for Replagal, a treatment for Fabry's disease, a rare condition that causes full-body pain.A lot of market pundits believe that if a recession is on its way then advertising companies such as WPP are the first to notice, so Friday's trading update from Sir Martin Sorrel's global powerhouse could make interesting reading.The company has been its usual busy self on the acquisition trail, expanding its footprint in Asia and Africa.
