F&C Commercial shareholders stop merger

A slim majority of independent shareholders in F&C Commercial Property Trust have voted against the merger with UK Commercial Property Trust.These are two of the UK's largest commercial property investment trusts and they would have become the sixth largest property company on the London market. The vote was close with 50.07% against the merger and 49.93% in favour of it. Shareholders in UK Commercial Property voted for the merger but it will not proceed. The board of F&C Commercial will consider the future of the company and will consult with its main shareholders.
