Erris Resources extends Abbeytown zinc project

(Sharecast News) - Mineral exploration company Erris Resources has seen drilling at its Abbeytown zinc project in Ireland successfully connect underground and surface mineralisations, expanding the overall size and potential of the system.Erris revealed that it had recently completed a soil sampling programme at the site, with the aim of identifying new targets and demonstrating that the corridor had the potential to extend 900 metres to the Ox Mountains fault.The AIM-listed group added that metallurgical test work was underway on samples taken from underground drilling.Elsewhere, Erris said several targets were under review in Sweden and Finland, as part of its Centerra-funded programme, with a number of reservation permit applications already having been submitted.Chief executive Anton du Plessis said: "2019 has started well, with activity on a number of our projects."Additionally, we are reviewing several new projects that fit the Erris model. These are opportunities that either have defined mineral resources or show significant exploration upside and we want to ensure that any asset we bring into the company delivers real shareholder value."As of 1000 GMT, Erris shares had picked up 4.36% to 5.87p.
