SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Japan investors track Tokyo's Nikkei lower

Tue, 05th Oct 2021 10:52

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Tuesday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Wincanton PLC, up 7.3% at 355.00 pence, 12-month range 198p-470p. The transport and logistics services firm reports strong revenue growth in six months to September 30, and is on track to report full-year profit in line with market forecasts. "Wincanton continues to work closely with its customers in taking active steps to address the impact of the shortage of HGV drivers in the UK and to both attract and retain drivers," it says, adding that profit has not been affected by recent fuel scramble in the UK.

----------

BMO Real Estate Investments Ltd, up 3.3% at 74.79p, 12-month range 51.4p-81.5p. Buys two freehold properties for total of GBP19.4 million. "The acquisitions represent the successful delivery of the key near-term objective to recycle proceeds realised from a number of strategic disposals from the High Street and office sectors into the retail warehousing and industrial sectors," it says.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

AVI Japan Opportunity Trust PLC, down 3.4% at 155.00p, 12-month range 101p-127p. Shares in the Japan-focused investor fall, tracking the headline Nikkei 225 index in Tokyo which sheds 2.2% on Tuesday. Oanda senior market analyst, Jeffery Halley, comments this morning that negative sentiment spilled into Asia from the US overnight, "especially Japan, whose stocks had been on an equally fiscal-stimulus-is-coming speculative bull market of late." CC Japan Income & Growth Trust, another Japan-focused investor, falls 2.4%.
