Thursday is the big day for company trading updates next week, as is often the case, with Greene King, HMV, Petrofac and Debenhams set to update the market that day. HMV Group may only be a small cap company these days but, as the short seller's favourite weapon of choice over the last year or so, its final results will be eagerly anticipated.The books, films, games and music retailer has issued a slew of profit warnings this year, with the most recent one being in April of this year, so there should not be too many surprises in the figures for the year just finished. Market expectations are for profit before tax of £34.1m on sales of £1.85bn (median forecast), but the company itself has said profits will be around £30m, suggesting that some brokers included in the range of forecasts have given up trying to update their forecasts and guess how bad the figures will be.Of more interest will be current trading, and the group's plans for turning things around. Selling flagging book store chain Waterstone's for £53m has bought the group some breathing space, as has a new £220m banking facility, but the market will be watching to see whether the group's move into new markets, such as live music, is bearing fruit fast enough to secure the future of the company.Also out next week are the UK's two major oilfield services groups, Petrofac and John Wood.
