Chime Communications, the leading marketing services group, said it posted its highest ever first half pre-tax profit. Profit before tax rose 4% to £8.5m on turnover that rose to £137m from £115m before. 'Having delivered the highest profit in our history we have outperformed the market and our competition and achieved first half results ahead of expectation. We are delighted and remain cautiously optimistic for the full year," said chairman Lord Bell.Interim dividend increased by 4% to 1.60p per share.Shares in Gulf Keystone Petroleum surged by more than 70% after the oil firm upgraded its 'oil-in-place' estimate for the Shaikan-1 well in northern Iraq to 1.5bn-3bn barrels from a previous estimate of in excess of 1.5bn barrels.Automation systems developer RTS broke even in the first six months of 2009 after lifting revenues.Revenue climbed to £5.5m from £4.6m over the same period the previous years. The firm posted a pre-tax profit of nil compared with a loss of £1.8m the previous year.Oil and gas company Aminex reduced pre-tax losses by 75% to $1.15m in the six month ended 30 June.Oil production was 50% higher than in the comparative period, though that was partly offset by a fall in both oil and gas prices to approximately 45% of those achieved during the comparative period. Digital media software designer ANT saw turnover rise by 26% to £2m in the six months to 30 June, while pre-tax losses remained largely flat at £838,509 compared with £836,077 last time.Leisure & Gaming, the online betting and gaming group, said results for the first half showed good growth from last year. Pre-tax profit came in at £1.8m against £1.3m in the same period last year on earning net win of €13.9m (2008: €11.5m)."Current trading since 1 July, in the seasonally quiet third quarter, is ahead of management's expectations with poker continuing at higher levels than expected and as such, the Group is currently confident as regards trading in the second half of the year," said the group.Insurance software firm Innovation Group said following a successful initial one year contract to provide a leading UK Insurer with its subsidence claims management solution, both parties have today entered into a new five year contract. The extended five year contract is expected to generate revenue of approximately £3.5m for Innovation Group, recognisable over the period.Enegi, the Newfoundland focused oil and gas company, said it noted the recent rise in its share price and confirms that it is in advanced stages of a fundraising. The placing price of any fundraising would be at 5p per share.Shares in struggling engineering consultancy group White Young Green virtually halved on Tuesday after the company said refinancing plans are likely to substantially dilute existing shareholdings.Life sciences group PuriCore narrowed pre-tax losses in the first half of 2009 to $5.15m from $6.7m the year before, in revenue that eased to $19.05m from $19.48m.
