SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: WSP Global rules out sweetened RPS bid

Tue, 11th Oct 2022 10:55

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Tuesday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Marston's PLC, up 3.8% at 37.28 pence, 12-month range 33.66p-33.66p. The pub company says sales for the year ended October 1 got close to pre-virus levels, down by just 1% from three years prior. It also maintained guidance on energy costs. The company said electricity costs in the final 10 weeks of the financial year were higher than expected, though it affirmed its gas price is fixed until March 2025.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

RPS Group PLC, down 6.8% at 220.00p, 12-month range 83.55p-245.00p. Shares in the professional services firm fall after suitor WSP Global Inc decides against lifting its takeover offer. WSP Global Inc said its roughly GBP591 million, or 206 pence per share, offer for the company is final. RPS in September recommended a GBP636 million takeover offer from consultancy and engineering services firm Tetra Tech Inc.

----------

Alphawave IP Group PLC, down 3.0% at 120.91p, 12-month range 113.60p-281.71p. Shares in the semiconductor technology company decline, tracking falls in global chipmakers. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd shares slump 8.3% on Tuesday after new US measures to limit China's access to high-end semiconductors with military uses. In New York, Nvidia Corp fell 3.4% on Monday.
