Johnson and Johnston in facilities management deal

Johnson Service Group, the dry-cleaning, textile rental and facilities management business, has won a contract to manage facilities for Johnston Press, the publisher of the Scotsman and Yorkshire Post newspapers.Up to 130 employees of Johnston Press involved in security, catering, cleaning, buildings maintenance, fire safety management and grounds maintenance, will transfer to Johnson's facilities management business SGP.The contract lasts for 3 years and is worth £10m."We continue to strengthen our presence across the corporate, retail, hospitality, healthcare and education sectors," SGP managing director Kevin Elliott said. "SGP combines management expertise with an extensive service partner network to offer clients an alternative approach to the self delivery model that is prevalent across the FM (facilities management) industry."At 11.55am shares in Johnson Service were flat while Johnston Press's were up 0.28p at 5.38p.---RG

Johnston Press confident of recovering from difficult first half
