LONDON (Alliance News) - Keras Resources PLC on Tuesday said it secured positive results in samples collected from pits at Ogaro prospect in Togo, where it now plans to commence a pitting exercise.
The mineral resource company said it has recently finalised a 10,000 tonne bulk sampling metallurgical testwork programme at Nayega manganese project, covering Ogaro area in northern Togo. The programme included the assessment of the suitability of the ore in manganese smelting facilities.
Keras said it collected 10 centimetres wide by 10cm deep samples from the top to the bottom of 14 pits excavated for 35 meters total depth.
The company said it transported a total of 106 samples to Lome for initial preparation at the laboratory for the Department of Mines in Togo. After the preparation, samples were shipped to an Intertek PLC facility in Ghana for further processing and analysis.
Upon completion, Keras plans to begin the first phase of pitting exercise on a 100 meters by 100 meters grid.
"The identification of a significant new area of outcropping mineralisation at Nayega further lays the foundation and increases our expectations for what we believe will become a new low capex, low operating cost manganese producer," said Keras Chief Executive Russell Lamming.
"We have now employed a team from the local community which has, to date, been involved in the preparation of the bulk sample site and will now move over to the Ogaro area to commence a pitting exercise," added Lamming.
Keras shares were trading 3.6% lower on Tuesday at 0.35 pence each.
