FTSE 100 movers: supermarkets, tobacco and mining stocks rebound

UK stocks were trading higher on Wednesday afternoon, led by gains in the construction, food retail and engineering sectors.As of 14:30 BST, the FTSE 100 was trading 0.46% points higher at 6,960.Morrisons and Sainsbury extended gains, following Tuesday's positive sentiment from Kantar Worldpanel, which revealed that deflation eased slightly. Tesco was also lifted, despite broker JP Morgan Cazenove lowering its estimates and price target from 185p to 175p.Consumer goods group Unilever was boosted as broker Barclays Capital upgraded its rating on the stock to 'overweight' from 'equal weight'.Miners Fresnillo, Antofagasta, Anglo American and Rio Tinto were making gains, as industrial metals futures picked up.Imperial Tobacco group rebounded from Tuesday's losses, which came as sector peer British American Tobacco was hit with a class-action lawsuit in Canada, forcing it to pay £8.2bn in "moral and punitive damages" to smokers.Dixons Carphone was in the red, despite reporting that full-year profits were likely to reach the top end of market forecasts.
