GAN Awards Contracts Litigation Firm To Enforce US Patent

Fri, 14th Sep 2018 10:49

LONDON (Alliance News) - Internet gambling software developer GAN PLC said Friday that it has awarded a mandate to intellectual property litigation firm Irwin IP LLP to implement a US patent licensing and enforcement program.

The program will target operators in the regulated intra-state Internet gambling markets of New Jersey, Nevada, Delaware and Pennsylvania, which are said to be infringing on GAN's intellectual property rights.

GAN's US-patented technology allows US casino operators' carded patrons to link their reward card to their online gambling account in order to identify themselves as a patron of the land-based casino and a member of their retail rewards program.

In June, GAN first decided to set up internet sports betting in the region, following the decision of the US Supreme Court to overturn the Federal US prohibition on sports betting enshrined with the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act 1992.

GAN said that patent licensing and settlement awards represent a "potentially high-margin incremental income stream".

Shares in GAN were up 1.6% at 66.01 pence on Friday.
