Africa budget carrier fastjet's passenger revenue in August grew five per cent to 2.7m dollars compared to the previous month.The company said the month-on-month increase was driven by strong performance in passenger volumes with an 84% load factor and a record 33,000 passengers in the month.Ancillary revenue,, which includes revenue from non-ticket sources, remained strong and represented 7% of total passenger revenue. "Operational statistics for August show continued growth, demonstrating the strength of our brand and the support we are receiving from the Tanzanian population," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ed Winter."So far we have carried 260,000 passengers within Tanzania and with a total population of 48m there are plenty more customers who can benefit from our services." He said the airline will be launching its first international route, Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg, on September 27th, calling it a major milestone for fastjet Tanzania. Shares were down 3.47% to 4.88p at 11:20 on Monday.RD
