LONDON (Alliance News) - Europe-focused miner Erris Resources PLC said on Wednesday it has found high grades of zinc, lead and silver from samples taken from pillars at the Abbeytown zinc project in County Sligo, Ireland.
Eight channel samples were taken vertically down the face of pillars evenly distributed down the two main drives in the Index Bed workings, taken by using a single blade disc cutter.
The best grades came from pillar four, which had four metres grading 18.4% zinc and lead combined with 116.85 grams per tonne of silver, and pillar two, which had four metres grading 10.7% zinc and lead combined with 80.46 grams per tonne of silver.
The style of mineralisation identification identified in surface drilling can be traced back to underground workings, demonstrating the continuity of mineralisation.
The surface drill programme on the project is currently in the final stages with results due in the coming weeks, Erris said.
"These new channel sample results confirm the presence of high-grade mineralisation at Abbeytown, which improves our understanding of the distribution of mineralisation in the historic workings and underpins the potential of the project. We are excited by the developments from this work and how it ties in the mineralisation from underground to the extension of mineralisation identified in drilling over 400 metres away to the south," said Chief Executive Officer Merlin Marr-Johnson.
Shares in Erris Resources were up 9.3% at 9.84 pence on Wednesday.
