Driver Promotes Operations Boss & 14-Year Veteran Wheeler To CEO Role

Tue, 02nd Jun 2020 13:50

(Alliance News) - Driver Group PLC said Tuesday that Chief Operating Officer Mark Wheeler has been promoted to the role of chief executive officer with effect from May 31.

He has replaced Gordon Wilkinson, who stepped down after five years in the role since 2015.

Wheeler has been part of the professional services consultancy for 14 years since 2006, and has been in his role for four years since 2016.

"In the four years that Gordon has led the company he has overseen the transformation of the business from a challenging financial position to one which is now consistently profitable, has cash reserves and, before the current Covid 19 crisis, had recommenced the payment of dividends," said Chair Steve Norris.

"I am confident that the new leadership team headed by Mark Wheeler and ably supported by our Chief Financial Officer, David Kilgour, will lead Driver Group to further successes in the future," Norris added.

Shares in Driver were down 3.8% at 50.50 pence on Tuesday in London.
