Sept 22 (Reuters) - Britain's financial watchdog will fineBarclays Plc 38 million pounds ($62.16 million) forfailing to ensure that customer money was properly safeguardedand adequate records kept, said a source familiar with thesituation.
The Financial Conduct Authority is to announce the fine assoon as Tuesday, the source told Reuters.
The FCA declined to comment on the matter, while Barclayswas not immediately available for comment outside regularbusiness hours.
Sky News reported the news on Monday, saying the regulator'sannouncement would make clear that losses for Barclays' clientswere theoretical rather than actual. (http://bit.ly/1x1BNvc)
