IN BRIEF: Ashoka India Equity seeks to expand investment portfolio

Ashoka India Equity Investment Trust PLC - India-focused investment trust - Publishes a circular containing details of a planned amendment to the company's investment policy. The company says the change will reflect the expectation that its portfolio will comprise about 50 to 100 investments, as opposed to about 25 to 50 investments as currently stated. Firm says it is beneficial for the portfolio to typically hold more than 50 investments, and potentially closer to 100 investments at certain times. Schedules a general meeting on July 29 to vote on the proposal.

Current stock price: 179.03 pence, up 2.3% on Friday

12-month change: up 11%
