Nige , regarding your thoughts about the virus and no impact, TW have just instructed all sites I assume that any worker just returning from a list of countries to leave site immediately and not return for 14 days , now this will not have any effect on sales but could definitely hinder production.
There are other viruses also having an impact ATM.
Not only the unelected ones but the liarviruses that threaten to force a no deal Brexit in June in response to shock Heathrow ruling.
Nige hi,
And also remember it only takes one person with the Virus to infect the whole site and the management team especially when they all gather in the site canteen !!!!!! Also what about deliveries etc and drivers taking the virus back to base and other sites etc etc, it could spread like wildfire between builders and there is no doubt about that.
Keep safe !

Forgot to mention that you are safer at home than a building site canteen especially during the very cold weather with everyone coughing and sneezing over each other, I have seen it myself, no such thing as a hanky on a building site, bit of old newspaper does many jobs lol.
As far as I'm aware, Nige was referring to the Builders SP's and historically were least affected relative to other sectors when global epidemics had occurred in the past - which was backed up by figures in the U.S.
There really is no safe haven from a virus and there is no cure or vaccine to provide immunity presently (may take another 18 months). Regards investment, Builders may well provide a much safer haven than any other sectors ATM.
Troubles hi,
The problem would be if say for example a site was found to have some personnel/ trade persons affected they would no doubt close the site this could effect other sites and then the SP would be challenged for sure, what would happen if a virus outbreak occurred within the TW HQ, now that would be a disaster for sure.
More accidents happen at home than anywhere else including around 6,000 deaths due to accidents in the home.

Some other interesting figures above.
Not really a safe haven !!!
Stay in bed is the answer lol :-)))
Most die in bed - Not good for the circulation and if you live in a bungalow you might get drowned ATM
Sage because the site would be infected and would need cleansing, surely you have seen what they are doing to hotels, hospitals, streets trains etc, the areas have to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, so hence possible Closure. It may not have happened yet but I am sure its a possibility.
Troubles that made me laugh, nearly spat me tea out :-)))

Trump tweeted in Feb 2015 that if the Dow fell more than 1000 pts in a single day, the sitting President should be loaded into a very big cannon and shot into the Sun at tremendous SPEED !! - no excuses !!
BTW - he spelt Jones, Joans - I'll light the fuse or ram him in the barrel.
Hi Troubles
I didn't just mean epidemics, but any economic downturn, due to price of oil or whatever. Traditionally Gold and Utes are the safe havens, but I think House builders should be included, (as does the US Market). Demand still high and will remain high, no way interest rates going up and banks happy to lend - ie no change.
Can't stand Trump but agree with him the fuss created by the media is out of all proportion. Its just another type of flu, of which there are hundreds. It is also a new one, but all the others were new once. Millions of people are killed by flu every year so 0.1% by coronavirus is not very significant. (Not too sure about the numbers).
As with all types of flu the incidence should decrease as the summer approaches and hopefully there will be a vaccine by next winter, but I do agree the critical time to contain it is now, then as the summer arrives hopefully we will get back the 12 1/2% we've lost (which we shouldn't have anyway).

Hi Nige,
Chinas economy is in the worst slump for two decades and don't really see any signs ATM of investors seeing housebuilders as a safe haven. It might have been expected for the reasons you have outlined consistently, but now we have the additional threat of a no trade deal with the EU in response to the shock Heathrow ruling - the detrimental effect of which would be even longer lasting than that of the present virus.
Unless of course, the virus and the Govt have the ability to rapidly mutate into a safer form (which I very much doubt) and think the opposite is more likely.

Looks like another carnage day on the markets will be lucky if TW stays above £2 good job we got well past £2 recently or we could be down to 1.40 the market is certainly crashing at the mo will take a long while to get back to £232 mostly all shares in the same position
What a damn week !!!
The only thing is we need more dams with more bad weather on the way.
Any good news ?????
I am afraid that the markets in general will keep falling, much much lower, and TW. will fall with it.
This is just the start of the correction, but there will be great buying opps once we are through this.
Agree with you Avocet. This is more than a correction, more like Armaggedon. This is so serious that we are probably looking at 1 to 2 years down the line before this gets sorted out.
Hi,Nige.Housebuilderrs are not a safe haven when people start losing their jobs and can't afford to buy houses.C19 strikes, key workers get quarantined, building sites become ghost towns.Supplies start to dry up,and with it demand.Think about it.

Hope everybody's read the Govt advice.
Call NHS 111 and wait an hour for an ambulance to arrive (if it can get through the floods and roadworks and isn't damaged by the potholes) followed by at least 4 hours on a trolley and an increasing possibilty of a wrong diagnosis.
Hi Troublesome. You are becoming as depressed and sceptical as me.Floods, climate change,C19,global chaos,Brexit. It can't get any worse, can it?
Hi Anybody,
Lets be positive - we don't have volcanoes, major eathquakes, forest fires, famine and plagues of locusts yet ''

Anybody TW. was 2p around 08-10 and look at it now ,is not a Armageddon yet and don't panic Mr. Maneuvering lol.
