As the purpose of Sean being engaged with the investors It's a good idea to share it all.
Happy to fill you in.
I was brought in to update the company contact list.
It’s a neat niche our family business operates in, but it brings serious value to the people and companies we do it for.
For the record, I don’t do it on a whim.
Because the second I put my name out there, I get inundated with friends and peers from all over the world asking me the same questions….so I end up “owning” whatever story I’m personally attached to for life….
Someone asked me one day, “how do you choose the people or companies you work with?”
My answer is simple; I only work with people I would invite into my home or leave alone with my kids.
I don’t play the undervalued card like most.
Truth is that a company is very specifically valued at the close of every day.
Everything else is dreaming.
The only way a stock goes up, is when the company is accomplishing real stuff.
But I do think SOLG is on a very good track with the right CEO, and an amazing project.
I’ve worked as a senior officer/registered insider of several explorers, developers and producers and I am connected to a lot of people smarter than me who are saying the same positive things about the company.
What’s interesting about today – is the environment is changing fast.
Normally, a developer or producer spends 99% of their time communicating with their largest shareholders/institutions…..those convenient days are done.
Why?
Because a single shareholder who only owns 500 shares of the company may be posting 20 things a day on social media.
In our company we call it the rise of the ants……..one little ant may be connected online with millions of other ones…and suddenly….those ants can sway votes….
I can’t say the name, but a CEO friend had 150,000 shareholders on their list.
90,000 of them voted against everything…..
Scared the Board like you wouldn’t believe.
90,000….INDIVIDUAL shareholders.
Little guys….sitting in front of their screens….talking to everyone.
Call a major mining company IR department ….see if you get a call back.
You won’t. They only care about their institutional holders….for now.
So, what we do, is make sure those ants feel part of the story.
And great things can happen….I can actually see a little uptick since we started calling people. Now you know. 😊
We don’t just call retail, sometimes we stumble upon very serious institutional people along the way also….we never prejudge…we treat every call like a KING OR QUEEN.
Because we never know who’s on the other end of that phone.
What I can share, is there has been overwhelming positive comments come back at me.
All bs aside….when you reach out to 100 people a day….you can expect a myriad of emotions…..BU
We’ve had some so bad, so horrible we’ve had to cut the project short within days.
(I have a thing with my people…”if you ever dread coming to work or picking up the phone…I’ll dump the client”) – even if the CEO is a friend. Life is too short to get screamed at for a week….emotions…..frustrations…..we can handle.
Really nasty - forget it. Life’s too short.
SOLG is a dream.
Seems there is a potential value in hiring the guy but it is to the management not to the PIs.
Metooooo - based on the spiel I'm undecided... appears like it was written by a 21yo on LSE or similar...
... HOWEVER, it does appear better than Scott/IR refusing to answer emails or calls.
Not impressed either.
It's all me me me and not enough about the company he has been engaged by.
I mean... rise of the ants... seriously? LOL.
Bozi, agreed. What utter tosh.
Shippy, whatever the email/info contained within is worth, many thanks for your efforts in obtaining it !
I am trying to work out why they would get someone in there now to build a large block of PI's...
Do they need voting support in coming months?
'I can actually see a little uptick since we started calling people' - to hell with building a mine, lets have a call centre @ Cascabel.
Become a Connector:
"This is a perfect opportunity for a retired person, or for anyone who likes the idea of a residual income that doesn’t require a lot of time."
"Our company is actively seeking friendly introductions, from anyone, anywhere in North America."
Hmmmm.
Well they’d improve shareholder relations if they just started answering emails sent before agm.
Nothing from info@ or Scott’s email.
We've basically outsourced IR. Agree with Bozi, NMM and add that the email doesn't inspire confidence. Though BBG's point is a reasonable one.
If he starts giving us any more folksy stuff about termites or wasps we're all totally fecked.
Hardly a good start to the new year for a company on the verge of a bid! No razzmatazz to reinforce the great expectations here. Wouldn't it be ironic to be kicked in the teeth by The Rocks Scott by him hiring someone who is self-obsessed. No hopeful message to the ants, sorry, I meant the troops, to lift morale while we wait for that corporate action:)
They’re not interested in what us PIs think. Why an earth do you think they would realise news just the please us. How long have you been investing in shares? Blimey ! 😦
Yikes…. This guy sounds like one of those self promotional ‘follow me and I’ll make you rich’ kind of guys on YouTube ads… all spiel without telling you anything… he may be useful, he may even be a nice guy… but Wow he doesn’t half sound like a snake oil salesman… where did they find this pedler?
“ I can actually see a little uptick since we started calling people. Now you know. 😊 ”
And he is claiming to be solely responsible for the recent price improvement???
Hubris
Come on guys, let's give the bloke a chance. Given the nature of his job and what he said in his email, there's a good chance he's reading this board. People (myself included) have bemoaned the lack of comms from SOLG with PIs and now Scott has done something about it. If Sean's appointment means a responsive IR team then I'm all for it. And if this is more cost effective than hiring someone on a 'permanent' basis who might be out of a job in a few months, then it's a smart move. Thanks for sharing Shippy.
Ship.. this is no criticism of you.. I think it’s you good you posted this…
My best judgement of this would be he is simply a generic bod, just contracted to gauge average investor opinions… telemarketing for feedback… nothing more.. he has probably just oversold his responsibility and remit in to something he isn’t.. giving it the big I am..
The official Solgold email address is no big deal. I’m a freelancer, that regularly works with the same group of studios.. I have an official email with a couple of them, even though I am not an employee… it’s no big deal. Most with a brain would ignore him at first contact, if he wasn’t using the official email.. so it makes sense
Pretty much Orthern.
I'm sorry folks, but given how long we've been here and where we currently find ourselves, I'm not going to start filling my face on a few crumbs.
We want someone who is going to come in here and start talking straight. No self-obsessed claptrap.
Sean - if you're reading this then it's time to read the room. Get on with the task in hand rather than prattling on about your background because most of us don't care. We're tired of it, we've had it before, and quite simply, we're only interested in you delivering whatever you are here to do.
Looking for the positive, at least he referred to us as ants and not sheep:)
Alas, we know that ants gets trampled under foot when elephants fights!
