Latest from Ecuador.
"Ecuador's youngest mayor, 27, is assassinated along with her aide in latest murder of a political figure in crime-ravaged country"
Wonder how the bbc will blow that up adikt
Still think it's rowdy tourists quady.
Still think it's a storm in a teacup adikt.
"In January alone, Ecuador saw at least 391 violent deaths. Last year was the most violent in the country's modern history, registering 7,872 murders — 43.2 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. That marks a notable increase over 2020, when the figure was just 7.8 per 100,000 inhabitants.

No 'clear way out':
Prosecutor investigating TV studio attack in Ecuador shot dead in Guayaquil
Prosecutor César Suárez was also in charge of the Metastasis case involving an Ecuadorian drug lord who allegedly received favorable treatment from judges, prosecutors, police officers and high officials.
Be interested yto hear what the fella who alledgedly lives in ecuador, has to say.
Bearing in mind they just extended the curfew country wide for another 30 days
I read on here posts from the resident soothsayer that only certain areas had unrest and the capital was fine.
Not according to australian government advice.
"Violent crime
Violent crime and theft are common. This includes:
assault
armed robbery
kidnapping
car break-ins
Female travellers are encouraged to take particular caution.
Travellers have reported serious assaults and theft in Quito at:
El Panecillo
La Mariscal
Guapulo
the old town
southern Quito"
Well if you listened to me you silly sausage you would've sold at 36p couple years back and now you're underwater.
Shame.
still at it!! chr!st sad ****s
Nab, actually, and this will upset you, for once the BBC's report is quite measured and states that no motive has been established.
Another upsetting fact, Nobby has done a good job in quelling the violence, and although more needs to be done, progress has been made and has resulted in the arrest of 10000 people involved in the drugs trade.
As much as you would love to portray this this as a civil war, it isn't and life for us carries on. The five highly positive announcements so far this year must really have disappointed you. So, time for you to crawl back into your coffin.
Do they not have violent crime, particularly assault and theft in Australia Needalife? Just to note that the travel advice level for Quito is the Same as the whole of the UK.....
I mean frankly to suggest that you shouldnt be worried about theft or assault in any Latin American City would make you a silly fellow indeed.
The bbc doesn’t do non mainstream violence though (only Putin gets that treatment)
Their fluffy delicate precious viewer base is more interested in the latest misgendering scandal that geopolitical tensions and violence
And of course telling pernicious lies such as the vaccine stops you spreading covid or coutts cancelled farage for having too little cash
All the while shielding perverts like savile and Harris
Well sheet happens needy and the we die... stop being so glass half empty buddy
We are but mere prawns in the bigger picture
But hey keep posting mate your thoughts and views are truly eye opening
Speaking of sheep, what about all the morons who lapped up smart meters
“It’s for your own good”
“No more estimated bills” (why would that matter anyway you’d always pay for what you use in the end)
Now low and behold the bbc nudge unit announces that rates will be higher for those using in peak hours
Just another “tin hat conspiracy theory” that’s coming true
Well 1984 like I said sheet happens to you and then you die and in the famous words of novicehunter “ I’ve got a funny feeling in my waters about a life changing RNS soon and then they can shove everything up their a - holes including my smart meter
1984, agree with you on smart meters, but my god I watched that climate 'doc' you shared over the weekend (with an open mind) and even as someone with limited knowledge of the subject (compared to, you know, actual scientists) I could tell that some of the graphs they put forward as 'evidence' were total baloney. There's good thread on X that debunks most of it that I'd recommend reading:
https://twitter.com/mkeulemans/status/1771642599989711005?t=s9blMFQcvh6f0bfAN_gHyw&s=19
Let's have some funding news soonish please SOLG or we might start to see some downward pressure on the price. Keep the momentum going.
Im unable to read Twitter threads but can see the header. A “climate journalist” debunking anything must ring alarms
The core con about using two different datasets for temperature rise is well known and acknowledged. This “stitching” of the last 30 years or so was done because the figures from the same dataset didn’t paint the correct narrative
The constant twisting of statistics to con people is one of the biggest problems in modern life. The often quoted “97% of scientists agree that man made client change is a thing” actually turns out to be 0.5% when you strip away the con tricks the pull which range from throwing out studies that had no opinion to including as supportive those who had no opinion!
Confirmation bias is a problem too, just look at Quady. He was even in the calling me a tin hat when I mentioned months ago that smart meters were all about controlling energy behaviour
I’ll still be a conspiracy theorist when his dishwasher won’t start because they’ve cut him off for not obeying the nudge unit!
It’s so bloody obvious when you finally grasp the very simple concept that your government are working against you not for you
Also hoping for funding news this week but more likely post Easter!
Novice, I’m also quietly confident that game changer RNS will drop
The ducks are all lined up. Good luck to us all, God/Allah knows we deserve it
Oh dear more misunderstanding and rubbish from the most unintelligent poster on here.
My smart meter, gives me money.
I don't get a gas bill as I don't have one.
And even this time of year I am earning around 45 pounds a month.
Will rise to 100 pounds a month when we get warmer weather.
Put your tin foil hat back on slug, it has the added benefit of keeping you warm.
Pbow. Silly Billy.
Not to sure mayor's are assassinated in Australia, not to sure we're under a 90 day nationwide curfew. Not to sure we need an e military escort to the airport at night. Not to sure there are quite as many murders per capita. Not to sure we've had a presidential candidate assassinated.
Not to sure we have kidnappings and extortion.
And as for other south American countries being the same as Ecuador. I'm not denying it.
I'm simply pointing out, that the likes of adikt and his rose tinted specs, views on the violence, are just that, his views and opinions. I'm just posting facts, facts that don't sit well with his opinions
Adikt, deflecting again.
The announcements you harp on about, have nothing to do with my post..
My factual post, is reporting what's still going on in ecuador. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm well aware of the thousands locked up, I'm well aware of the announcements.
I'm also well aware they havnt announced another 30 day curfew because things are now as normal as your opinion leads us to believe
Your posts on the violence, express your opinions.
My posts express the facts,
Adikt, could you please explain your need to become hysterical.
Surely the fact a female mayor assassinated, a chief prosecuter assassinated and the further imposition of a 30 day nationwide curfew.
All happening in the last week or so, in a country we're invested in warants discussion, on a forum board designed to debate our investment, without the need for hysteria.
Please reply, to my post with no deflection, or wishful thinking.
Needalife
I'm pretty sure people get murdered in Australia. That it is a mayor is hardly makes it much different. It would be somewhat difficult for Australia to have a Presidential candidate murdered, given you have a King and not a president.
In theory there is a national curfew but given most areas are "green" and have no restrictions in practice this is not the case.
If you think Australia doesn't have kidnappings and extortion you need to start reading the papers.
As per UK travel advice Quito and the area that Cascabel are both green - ie perfectly fine to visit.
I really think you are making a meal out of a mole hill over this. The president is bringing in security and Ecuador is much safer than many countries in the Region where very successful mines have, and are being built.
Further to my previous post, as of the 22nd of March out of 221 cantons in Ecuador 38 are in the red category (with the highest restrictions), 23 are in Amber (mid restrictions) the rest - 160 are in green with absolutely no restrictions. As such in reality 72% of the country is not under a curfew.
Nab, your lack of self-awareness is hilarious. It's you who's become hysterical, not me. For your own purposes you're deliberately trying to turn what is a difficult situation for the people of Ecuador into a catastrophe, which, as Pbow has pointed out, it is not. In your mind the country is in engaged in a full-blown civil war...it isn't. As much as you may wish it Ecuador isn't Haiti, and it most certainly isn't Colombia in the bad old days.
I'm not downplaying the disruption caused by the drug gangs, but the fact is people are still going about their daily business and, as we've seen, against this backdrop Solg has made a great deal of progress in recent months, which is something even you can't deny. Similarly, Noboa is engaged in a campaign against the cartels which is making progress in clearing the streets of these people.
You are in desperate need of some perspective, although your posting record suggests it may be beyond you.
1984
I’m a bit sceptical about the climate narrative, after all the wettest February since gid knows when ie 19th century hardly supports the climate narrative.
But having electrified our house, to my wife’s horror, as I can control it all on my phone has been a very sensible financial decision.
Couple that with cheap transport( not public charging) and it is a complete no brainer.
I just don’t understand the scepticism on here for updating people’s heating systems, if it saves them money.
Most posters on here are trying to make money long, short etc by investing but a fair few here are extremely anti EVs etc.
Your use of a car seems absolutely ideal for an EV.
Wind, solar, hydro and nuclear are a much better protection than being reliant on Putin and the Middle East for our energy.
Let’s not forget OPEC+ deliberately try to keep prices high and electrification has dented their hope of achieving this.
The reason electric is still such a high price is it is linked to the gas price ……FFS
