Happy to have sold my rights for 225.5p but also happy to hold my initial number of shares (less than 3.4% of my portfolio) as I'm betting this will recover well, after the XD day drop.
Personally I would wait at least till ex-dividend here before considering start building a position IMHO
Its going to be a long Summer folks IMHO time on our side ....

another non shareholder
Market makers and broker in a panic with to many shares to off load.
Poker it's just gearing, all about technicals. Being down 19% since the 22nd close, using Googles recalculation model, has absolutely nothing to do with sentiment.
Getting exciting on here now
Longtimeinvestor is now taking on Pokerchips .... love it
IMHO All three: Longtimeinvestor / Fleecy/ Pokerchips are all good posters to have on any Board
I were finking off doin somme trolling hear bute I ain't fealing up too it toodaye sadley.

''National Grid Nil Paid Rights (NGPN) - down 17% today ( at present).... jeez, the market doesn't like the RI''
??
It is called 'gearing'. The current share price is the current share price. The 'nil paids' are a completely seperate entity and as I have said geared against the share price.
We have had a number of stock market down days recently, coming off of all time highs - simple.

some good posts and maths ! ..... ignore the noise... he will get the message soon enough ( bit slow it seems) that you aren't listening .

could you stop being a troll on a board where you are not invested, only here to disrupt..
I am an SSE shareholder which has recently retreated from abot 1860p to the current a little
above £17.
it is a stockmarket - shares go up and down
National Grid Nil Paid Rights (NGPN) - down 17% today ( at present).... jeez, the market doesn't like the RI , at this stage ..SP adjusting accordingly
Don't you mean 7 quid ;-)
Ex -dividend will take 50p off the price IMHO
Ex divi day this will be below 8 quid.
Falling now......
The market loved NG's Rights Issue announcement so much, in appreciation they dropped the price by around £1.27 on results day. Had the share price held at £11.27 pre Ex-Rights, the TERP adjustment Ex-Rights morning would have been around £10.23. The current price is around £8.55, or 16% below the Theoretical Ex-Rights Price for pre results day close of £11.27, of course this drop is purely down to technicals and nothing to do with sentiment, right?

you really must learn to know the difference between an opinion and facts. You give out misinformation as your opinion.
Just a bit of advice to anyone corresponding with LTI. He has to have the last word, with a Black and White view of everything, meaning he's always right and anyone disagreeing with him are wrong. There's only one opinion that counts, his.
Initial forward yield on new shares bought at 645p - about 7% ?

''He should go''
what utter nonsense. Businesses INVEST to make money. I will as a shareholder make a contribution to this NG investment, so that I will benefit from NG's increased future profitability. Very happy to be able to purchase further shares at 645p
My thoughts - poor decision making by CEO - there were non dilutive alternatives , eg. disposal of USA. He should go. We now have a company where there is doubt on the wisdom of the board and that means we need a risk premium - so yield needs to be above 6% implying a slightly lower sp than we have to day. Some time before confidence is restored.
".. longer term benefit of the investments .. drive up EPS .. increase asset values."
BINGO! That's more important than crushing pennies on the dilution / offer deal. Right now, across this whole sector, necessary capital should bring a healthy cut to middle-line. So worse than R.I.? How about no-R.I.? If you want something to worry about, try "Prez Trump".
