For what reason is this still tanking? There's only so much depression i can handle here, i've already reduced my position by 50% and now i'm tempted on closing the other 50% for a £800 overall loss, and investing the remainder in Apple or Nvidia just to salvage something back. Was only 10% of my overall portfolio so i don't need any "Why have you put all your eggs in one basket" malarky.. 80% and £7k up on Nvidia currently, and questioning when to take profit/capital off the table in that too.
Tankying is an emotive way to describe todays smallish pull back. No real idea abou the reason. Some boards are linking it to election manifesto's etc, although that's not clear to me. The FTSE is off a bit so it's not surprising many of it's components are off a bit. A close below 451 would very much suggest that we could fall to 423 or below, that could be 402 area (a previous low in Nov 2023). If that didn't offer support then the 372 area might come into play. There's currently nothing obvious to suggest we won't have a good summer season and report good figures. Fingers crossed that will hold us above 451.
Did i do what i did tell me why tell me why i don't like Mondays
Anyway good luck to those not winging about Why
Well done @Jonty95 for hanging on to APPL
Currently got smashed iPad screen so will probably be going to Currys for new one soon.
No real idea abou the reason
maybe this and the FED are to blame ... Trump/Biden/The Fed/US Borrowing/US Budget deficit .... the markets are worried about the US and if they worry about there ..it ripples around everywhere
If Trump got in and kept taxes low it would mean high borrowing needs , which would sent bonds down and yields up
scary !!
Watch the futures markets .... !!

Easujet airline and holiday business are booming but the Gaza conflict put a damper on investors centiment towards airlines. particularly easyjet as it was forced it to suspend flights to Israel and Jordan, while demand dipped on Egypt routes. A trading update is due in the next few weeks that should confirm booming business and forecast a record profit this year.
Sorry for the typing error. Ment Easyjet
Is it the potential threat posed by bird flu to the sector..?.
Luckily there are no reported cases of human to human transmission, Yet.
I'd imagine that the Iberian peninsula issues (demonstrations about appalling behaviour from Tourists) is also a factor, these are busy routes and the demonstrations may be perceived likely to have a heavy impact on tourism to the region. Just thinking out loud, but there is a serious problem over there. The root of the problem is tourist behaviour, but the solution for the moment might reduce the number of tourists.
Stu..
It is the minority of tourists that caused the problem...they are not only from the UK , other nations also contribute to the bad behaviour.
Yes, agreed, but it is a real problem for the locals, their islands and their cultures. Not only Brits for sure, but Brits and Germans are a dominant and unrully element over there. The fact that it's Brits and Germans, maybe particularly relevant to us as investors in EZJ. Just putting it out there for discussion really.
This is relevant @stupmy…you are thinking about news instead of charts! Just wanted to add that on recent trip to BCN the queue for EU passport holders was about 5m long…whereas the queue for UK passport holders was half an hour long. Seemed all very deliberate policy to make UK passport holders feel unwelcome. Similarly, on arrival Copenhagen I was asked what my business was there….I explained going to Malmo to collect Swedish passport and the border official said “good for you, this UK passport is just toilet paper”. Shame none of the manifestos from labour, Lib Dem’s or cons included rejoining EU. General fk up IMHO
" Seemed all very deliberate policy to make UK passport holders feel unwelcome."
Stille
Border control arent there to make anyone feel particularly welcome or not...you get that within the City afterwards... The airport security, border control just follow the rules, imposed on them
I can tell you though ....that when the Spanish reads how UK border control treats some of their citizens ....it reverberates back and has consequences ..they dont then feel too keen to provide more staff to the Brit line !!!

...and ..when EU drivers are kept waiting for hours and hours at UK ports and customs...they feel pretty much the same way

Yes @Pokerchips.
Was it De Gaulle who said “I want her but I want her naked” je la veux, mais je la veux nue
It was a privilege to be in the EU. Spilt milk!
Just looked that up and it seems De Gaulle denies saying it, suggesting it was attributed to him wtihout truth.
Theoretically the 'her' refers to England (UK) from what I can gather.
I'm making progress. He can be seen/heard saying it in this clip. I think it relates to GB/England their references rather my view joining the European Union. He does actually say in this clip 'L'Angleterre, je la veux nue'. Interesting. At least I've had something to do in the last few minutes, not like the EZJ SP is giving me much to play with!!
B u gger, should have listened on, it was a journaliste who asked De Gaulle about the quote attributed to him. De Gaulle, like the consumate diplomat he was, refuses the credit for the quote. Good quote, good discussion, good clip of De Gaulle in action though.
"NON!" Should have listened, now between devil & deep blue sea.
"Georges est un peu fatigué votre Madgèsté."!
