The new SM numbers, from 250 million to 300/330 million. In the last 4 years just over 1 million residential houses have been built adding to Indian stock. Over the last 10 years it looks about 3.5 million houses. Unless they've flooded the country with 50 odd million commercial units, which they haven't, I'd say JC has got the wrong end of the stick again.
Well colour I haven't had a chance to listen to session again yet but didn't JC say he got that 300m+ from another source. I don't think he would make that statement without confidence.
That's exactly what he said. The line was 'someone told me recently' or something similar.
He makes statements ALL the time, most are complete nonsense as you should now know.
Hi colour the 250 million was out from start they forgot 70 million to be replaced =320 million + 20 million new builds from 2023 ..roughly 10 million a year...maybe 330 is way too low ....as Indias wealth grows and family values change ..the housing market won't decline
I thought the most interesting points were the UK's backwards smart decisions ..and j.c highlighting and following of the departures from UK markets...both had a strong feeling in answers
Thanks for your view CB.
regrading housing in India
It looks like India will need to provide at least 10 million new smart meters per year ..just to keep up with the 10 m new homes built each year and growing in India.
"Cleveland OH, January 23, 2024 – According to the Freedonia Group study, new housing construction levels in India are forecast to increase 4.1% per year on average to 11.3 million units in 2028.
Why!
continued expansion in the country’s middle class
ongoing migration from rural areas to cities
continued government support for the construction of affordable apartments and subsidies for first-time homebuyers
In 2023, there were 301.3 million existing homes in India, In the same year, India added 9.2 million new housing units. The number of new housing units constructed increased almost every year between 2003 and 2023.

There are 200 dollar billionaires in India. Surely one of them would be interested in one of JC's SPVs.
Cold call one billionaire per each working day and he'd have spoken to them all by the end of FY25.
And then its on to the poor gals & guys who are only worth 100's of millions of dollars.
What's that all about ITT. Our SPVs are not until the next round. We are lowly subs at present. I am sure Modi will continue (is it the 4th June) so we could have fair chunk of these contracts, plus existing and extentions of them, plus in coming months a pitch at these new AMISPs, plus if I remember rightly bigger sized initial contracts (especially if we are doing the awarding); also if we are shortly capable Private Cellular Network, hopefully next AMISP approval, then there is not much else we can achieve. Take that all on board and we could be looking at a £bn(s) company. Hang on to your ever growing SIPP, lol. I wonder if there will be a new look at UK with the 4G problem, at this stage CC could may be save UK money. dyor.
Hi tonyj
We've been told that that Cyan's first SPVs will be set up in FY25 (i.e. by 31/03/2025 - 6 to 9 months JC said). The cash will need to come from someone because we haven't got it.
Sorry to disappoint you but my SIPP money now going into another Cambridge-based tech company.
Enjoy the sunshine.
Oh ITT, agast. If we needed financial support surely Heather would have said so if it was that obvious, otherwise it would be deemed misleading. Listening to qa I understood under the new set up money would be coming from the banks on a trickle feed monthly basis. Also there would be larger contracts issued. DYOR
Hi tonyj
I'm not saying that the company needs cash to keep going.
I'm saying that the company will need to persuade infrastructure funds to invest in the SPVs to get them off the ground. They can't just rock up to Barclays on Cambridge High Street and ask for a loan.
It is a case of persuading, based on each specific project. There's no guarantee that backers will be found but I hope that they are.
