Cineworld takeover rumours have been little quite lately (but not completely disappeared!).
Little sniff of the rumour and Spp should go wild again like the previous time.
Gee, I dunno, maybe to get a bigger chunk of their 4bl per year income. Precovid.
So they can get 100% of the income on their own movies instead of 50 - 65%.
Once the pendamic risks have been mitigated via vaccine, people would venture out as they would be tired of being inside their homes. One of the business that will benefit from this would be cinemas. It's not so easy to set-up cinema business and infrastructure so quickly. Who else is there to but then Cineworld?
It's not about how much a Cineworld would get in a buyout, it's just the rumour confirmation would be sufficient to get an intraday trader attention and the Sp will spike up until official news. So let's see and good luck.
That's net debt, you're including all the operating leases that would coincide with them earning revenue, what used to be an operating cost.
Debt gets negotiated and somewhat written off during the buyout as banks would prefer to get paid something then nothing! Also, with the government support, new buyer would get the help to keep employees.
Just like how Sp dropper for no reason, it's rising again in same fashion too! Lol
Sp was 184p in Feb 2020, 7 months ago! 7 months from here things can change in upwards direction pretty quickly too! Let's see.
That debt would be wiped out within 3 or 4 years if the likes of Disney completed a buyout , they would take the full 100% earnings of all films , plus the added bonus of selling their franchise in every cineworld , and on top of that , free advertising for all of their other interests in the big screen before Movies start...To me , it's a no brainer , and I'm pretty sure Disney hierarchy are well aware of such an appealing move it would make .
No panic
Eddie, the net debt has increased from $3.4bn to $4bn.
Converting debt to to millions and adding lease liabilities is just tacky.
Why would someone takeover Cineworld?
1. Cineworld reduced net debt (excluding lease liabilities) from $4bn to $3.3bn from 2018 to 2019
2. The Paramount decree lapsing means studios now have an oppotunity to acquire a cinema chain - this didn't exist a few months ago
3. Box office generates $40bn/year and Disney makes-up 33% of all box office ticket sales and given their takeover of Lucas Arts (Star Wars) and Marvel introducing Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) they are the right player
