Compelling entry point, considering BP's solid market position and strategic shift towards sustainable energy. I believe this investment holds potential for growth as the company adapts to evolving energy demands

Think I remember someone saying that 15 years ago at 600p.

Yes and then a little later I sold some BP shares at MY all time best price of £6.48.
And then came the oil spill and wiped over $60 billion of the company value.
Yes and then a little later I sold some BP shares at MY all time best price of £6.48.
Lucky devil as it was about that time that I bought my first 2 tranches of BP,£25K each, dont like to look at the contract notes but I did top up as it plummeted down to somewhere in the region of £2.93 in later weeks.
my view on how you would describe our dividend yield in per cent is to point out that as the share price goes lower the yield goes up and has a tendency to make people quote that it is a good dividend, but if the share could maintain last 2 highs the divi yield would be lower so best to look at the actual dividend paid per annum in pence and then check how much it was 5 years ago and one might come to the conclusion that it is a poor dividend now especially if you take into account recent inflationary pressures.Just my opinion and yes I would get out but cannot find a suitable stock to buy into save my old company SLB which does have that look that it is capable of growing 25% in the next 18 months.
Nightpusher.
Perfect summary
As on seller leaves a buyer picks up the baton.
Yield obviously has more to do with sp than div.
One of my first costly lessons was chasing yield.
Found out within a couple of months why yields were so good.
Drop in div expected with next results.

Bob Dudley and the Russians? I seem to remember the BP offices in Moscow getting raided. Dudley had to get out of the country and some small rumour about poisoning.
Going back further Lord Browne got burnt twice or maybe more times with Russian aquisitions?
The whole of the joint assets with Rosneft were written off in Feb 2022 with the invasion? $25billion
That’s all true but that was with TNK BP.
Rosneft cleaned up that mess by buying BP out with Putins approval.
From then on Dudley had good relationship with Rosneft and Russian government
I’m certainly not considering any outcome with BP assets in Russia to end positively.
The war is going to last for years IMO, the screw will be tightened further, and any western assets are going to be swallowed up by Russia. Write it off like BP have themselves.
I might be surprised, but I doubt it. Russia will not be trusted for a generation or more by the West to build trade again in any significant way.
Although sadly, they could well flourish within BRICS as that is growing, in size and popularity, with a reserve currency being established backed by the most amount of physical Gold you could ever imagine.
Tough times for the West, unless we ramp up arms for Ukraine and potentially troops to support on the ground. Tough to hear, but we stand up or roll over.
All IMO which counts for nothing of course.
My share save was due out that year, optioned at £5.
such a fail ...

It’s strange but when your shares save starts,it never seems likely it will end up above the sp.
Only consolation is if you do use the money to buy BP yourself, it will allow you to buy more shares than you would have got.
This would reward you in future with slightly more div.
Or else you can invest in something else,or a holiday
Currently on a sharesave scheme, £3.91 strike price 2026 vest date - seems a no brainer way to make a couple of thousand tax free - although it annoys me it doesnt generate dividends through the program.
This years programe comes out soon - I'll only do it if we continue sliding downwards and we get a c: £3.70 strike price
Made £11k profit (tax free) from my last one, had a £2.49 strike price, sold for £5.58
