I will try one more time. The ex div date is the 30th so any shares bought on the 30th will count and shares sold on or before close of play on the 30th will not count. The 30th is one day before the record date which is the 1st October.
Ex divi date is not dividend payment date.
Ex divi date, you must hold the shares to be entitled to get the divi.
EX divi date is 30th of sept.
Divi payment date is 09th November.
If you buy shares today and hold till tomorrow you will get the divi, if you buy tomorrow you will not get the divi, usually the price goes down around the divi price, but if it's a good day for the ftse it might not go down as much, you should be able to sell your shares on ex divi day without losing your divi, personally I always wait till the day after if I am going to sell.
For the avoidance of doubt extract from RNS of 2nd September,
‘The Board established a new dividend policy based on an ordinary dividend with a 2.5 times dividend cover in 2020. The Board was delighted to resume dividend payments with the declaration of an interim dividend of 7.5 pence per share in February 2021 and is pleased to recommend a final dividend of 21.9 pence per share (2020: nil pence per share). Subject to shareholder approval, the final dividend will be paid on 9 November 2021 to those shareholders on the register as at the close of business on 1 October 2021. The total proposed ordinary dividend for 2021, including the interim dividend of 7.5 pence per share paid in May 2021, is 29.4 pence per share (2020: nil pence per share; 2019: 29.1 pence per share).’
So if you hold shares at close of play on 30th you will get the dividend - this will include any shares you acquire on the 30th. ATB.
Jonnie, stop that deramping and get on down the bookies! lol
The ex-dividend date, otherwise called the ex-date, typically comes one business day ahead of the record date.
If you sell at 8am tomorrow you will not get the divi of 21.90p per share held. You have up until close of day today to buy for the dividend. So... scam down the back of your sofa - raid your kids/grand kids piggy banks - beg, borrow or steal - to buy these shares to day ).
We actually you need to buy before close of play on the 30th to be entitled to the dividend - if you sell before then you certainly will not get any.
So in theory you need own on the 29th
And can sell at 8am on the 30th and still collect
The divi At 30p
(This will be trading below £6 this week in my opinion)
it doesn't seem cheap to me ... look at where they were a year ago during the lockdowns etc
we have come out of all that (I hope). The falls over the last week are not the start of a downward spiral.
The dividend is strong and will become stronger, No worries here you should see some of the sh*te ive invested in recently
i agree these are cheap, but i feel they could fall even cheaper
sectors can become unloved, quite recently it was 'travel' at the moment i feel the MM's have swapped their games from travel to builders, look at Taylor Wimp into the £1.50's (albeit just at £1.59)
i see this as a great opp to day trade (and if i get stuck so be it)
GL all, hope you enjoy & make money whatever you decide
Divi day will be upon us before we know it. Best to get in cheap now.
Divident
O I wish I was such a SEER! lol
i headline, 27 sept 2021: SALE OF HOMES ARE SET TO REACH A 14 YEAR HIGH.
HAMPTONS' forecast for average house price growth by 2024 predicts a 21.5 per cent lift in north-east England compared to 7 per cent in London.
PS: I have NEVER EVER sold these shares in all of my years of trading at a loss, and I've got the life style to prove it. lol. They're as safe as houses.
Yes I expect this to fall by more than DIVI
MM’s are taking this down
I’m expecting it go below £6 short term
(I personally sold some at a loss at £7, I made good on Lloyds so took a hit here)
I’ll rebuy when it’s bottoms
Got an auto buy at £5.90 set up
Do we think the price will fall once dividend day comes?
Trouble is... this is a time - repeated again and again - when all the little fish in the pond get eaten by the big greedy carp. Cos they worry and freeze and are unable to swim away! Never learn.
Why am I helping the little fish?, you may ask. Maybe it's because I was one myself once upon a time...
Didna tell ye... These are solid. Just ftse 100's present jittery sentiment. Sell, if you so wish. Then I can buy yours cheap... just like MMs! And clean up when the booat comes in, ladee. lol ????
i hope your right Sunset, at the moment if feels like they are setting up for a fall!
GL
Do we have a "Perfect Storm" to propel this to over 800? Lots of little "signal" sells last couple of days(? ). To encourage a run on selling, maybe, to add to the " buy pot" for the insatiable Big Boys? lol.
Lots of "little trades" today - wonder what those MMs are concocting? Lol.
Mind you... Many Traders believe that MMs (Market Makers) signal moves in advance by using a small amount of buys and sells as "signals" . The "signals" are from one MM to another. On the other hand, some say this is folklore!
Remember... for every seller there is a buyer. The only sellers from now until the Ex Div date with be those struggling to pay their energy bills! And that's understandable.
TEN MORE DAYS until ex dividend day. SP by virtue of that should start rising accordingly.
